Yacht Clubs - Sailing was not just important to commerce in the 19th century it was a major pastime. The wealthier of sailors often got together to form social clubs that revolved around yachting. They promoted the sport and better ship design. While certain seaports became well known yachting centers, almost every waterfront town in America had a yacht club of sorts. While images of these clubs are generally not classified apart from views, they are capable of being a category by their numbers.
Year - Many postcards were published highlighting a specific year. They were usually accompanied by an drawn illustration of a montage in the case of real photos. Even though many bare no inscription other than the year itself they were meant to be used as a form of holiday card celebrating the new year. This type of card was rarely published outside of the first ten years of the 20th century.
